Dr. Christina Jackson is honored to be caring for patients and their smiles at Mack Orthodontics.
Her journey to orthodontics was not straightforward; she studied mechanical engineering at MIT (with a minor in jazz trumpet!), then put her poker hobby to good use as a bond trader on Wall Street for five years.
As she missed working with her hands, she decided to follow in her orthodontist father and twin brother's footsteps and become an orthodontist.
Mebane Braces
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. The metal or ceramic brackets are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with our doctors, these components work together to apply gentle pressure, in order to gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.
Mebane braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of tooth issues, from simple to complex. Traditional braces can reduce overall treatment time because they sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth when compared to other options. In addition, braces don’t require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can. This makes Mebane braces a cost-effective orthodontic option for patients on a budget.
Mebane Invisalign
The Mebane Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners, instead of brackets and bands, to gradually move the teeth into alignment. This option is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The trays are virtually invisible. To keep the teeth moving in the right direction, they are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain complex cases, Invisalign may not be a viable option. Mebane Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign after a free consultation.
